Provincial Weather Warnings and Updates
Gauteng

Western Cape, Northern Cape, and Eastern Cape
An intense cold front will make landfall from Wednesday, 25 June, through Friday, 27 June. It will bring very cold, wet, and windy weather. Ahead of this, the Western and Northern Cape face a yellow Level 2 warning for damaging waves between Plettenberg Bay and East London. Small vessels are at risk of capsizing due to rough seas and gale-force coastal winds. Forecasters expect light snowfall to fall over the high ground in the Western Cape mountain ranges. The south-western interior of the Northern Cape will also see light snowfall. Heavy rainfall may cause localized flooding in the western parts of the Western Cape.
The Eastern Cape should prepare for strong damaging winds on Thursday. Interior regions will experience a drop into cold temperature categories. Authorities advise small stock farmers to take precautions against the wet and windy conditions expected during this period.
Mpumalanga and Limpopo
These provinces will see partly cloudy skies with warm to hot conditions. Isolated showers and thundershowers are expected mainly in the western Highveld and south-west Limpopo. Morning fog is possible along the escarpment in Mpumalanga.
North West and Free State
Warm to hot conditions will prevail with isolated showers and thundershowers in the afternoon. The Free State may experience morning fog patches in the extreme east. No severe weather warnings have been issued for these provinces.
KwaZulu-Natal
Moderate to fresh northerly to north-westerly winds along the coast will shift to southerly to south-westerly by evening. Temperatures will remain cool but without significant precipitation or severe weather alerts.
Additional Weather Advisories and Fire Danger
Currently, there are no active fire danger warnings for Tuesday, 24 June. However, extreme fire danger conditions have been reported in earlier days. These reports cover parts of the Northern Cape, Free State, and Eastern Cape. Therefore, vigilance remains important.
Safety Recommendations
Residents along the southern coastline, especially between Plettenberg Bay and East London, should avoid small vessel navigation due to hazardous sea conditions. Coastal communities are urged to secure property against strong winds and heavy rainfall expected later this week.
Small stock farmers in the Western, Northern, and Eastern Cape provinces should prepare for cold, wet, and windy conditions. These conditions may affect livestock health.
Motorists in interior provinces should drive cautiously during early mornings. Fog and frost can reduce visibility and cause slippery roads.
