Orlando Pirates Transfers: Timm Set to Exit Pirates Before New Campaign

Orlando Pirates are reportedly set to part ways with veteran midfielder Miguel Timm. This comes as preparations begin for the new season. The 33-year-old was once a crucial component of the Buccaneers’ engine room. However, he has seen his influence wane drastically during the current campaign.
From Key Player to Sideline Regular
Timm, who made 22 league appearances in the Betway Premiership last season for Orlando Pirates, has found himself on the periphery this time around. He has not featured in any league match throughout the season. He was last seen on the bench during the narrow 1-0 loss to Stellenbosch FC in December— without being called upon.
Instead, his involvement has been limited to cup fixtures. Domestically, he only managed a run-out in the MTN8 quarter-final clash against Cape Town City. In addition, he appeared twice in the CAF Champions League, offering brief glimpses of his experience on the continental stage.
Contract Set to Expire
With his contract nearing its end, the club is not expected to table an extension. This signals the end of his time with the Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates. Timm is likely to depart as a free agent once the season wraps up. It will mark a quiet exit for a player who was once instrumental in stabilizing the Pirates midfield.
New Signings Signal New Direction
The Buccaneers have already begun reshaping their squad in anticipation of the upcoming campaign. They have reportedly secured the signature of Sinoxolo Kwayiba from Chippa United. This is a clear indication of their intent to inject new energy into the Orlando Pirates squad and move in a fresh direction.
Timm’s potential departure from Orlando Pirates comes at a time when several clubs across the country are expected to undergo significant squad overhauls. Kaizer Chiefs, for instance, are also tipped to release a host of players as they rebuild ahead of the new season.
End of the Road for a Midfield Stalwart
As Pirates continue to assess their squad depth and prepare for new challenges, Orlando Pirates midfielder Timm’s time at the club appears to have reached its conclusion. He was once an essential figure, but he now finds himself surplus to the club’s future plans.
