Pitso Mosimane Soccer School Roadshow Launches at Curro Protea Glen

The Pitso Mosimane Soccer School (PMSS) roadshow made its latest stop at Curro Protea Glen on 21 May, marking another milestone in the nationwide drive to nurture future football stars through sport, academics, and character-building. This leg of the tour reaffirms Curro’s dedication to youth development and long-term investment in local football talent.

Building a Legacy of Discipline and Talent

Curro Protea Glen became the 12th Curro school to join the PMSS initiative earlier this year, officially embracing the programme’s mission of shaping young lives both on and off the pitch. Principal Johannes Mahlatsi, speaking during a media engagement, highlighted the tremendous impact the initiative has already had on learners.

He noted that the structured training has cultivated not only football skills but also instilled discipline, teamwork, and self-belief among learners. “This programme is about more than just sport. It’s about developing young people holistically. From as young as five years old, our learners are more active and engaged, both physically and academically,” Mahlatsi said.

Empowering Youth Through Structured Sport

The programme is designed for learners aged five to 18 and includes over 12,000 participants nationwide. It blends physical training with a strong educational framework, giving equal importance to both academic and athletic performance.

Mahlatsi also pointed out how the focus on physical conditioning—especially at younger developmental stages—has had noticeable benefits. “It’s amazing to see how movement-based training has enhanced our learners’ coordination and engagement levels, especially in our foundation phase,” he added.

Investing in the Future

Jared Temlett, project lead at Curro Sport, praised the growth and success of the PMSS, explaining that its value extends beyond sports. “This initiative isn’t just about producing athletes—it’s about shaping leaders. The partnership with PMSS has shown us how football can inspire confidence and purpose in learners,” he said.

Temlett acknowledged the powerful role the programme plays in changing lives, noting that the training offered at PMSS has exceeded expectations in both quality and influence.

More Than a Game

Pitso Mosimane, the celebrated football coach behind the programme, emphasised that the school-based initiative is rooted in holistic development. “This is our contribution to the football landscape—using the sport to educate, develop, and guide learners towards healthier, more focused lifestyles,” he explained.

The programme also covers life skills, nutrition education, and social development, providing a solid foundation for learners to thrive. Coaches undergo special induction training to ensure their approach complements academic goals while promoting wellness and discipline.

Mosimane expressed pride in the progress made, sharing that several learners had already caught the eye of professional clubs and development academies.

Inspiring Dreams, Changing Lives

As the roadshow continues across the country, the impact of the Pitso Mosimane Soccer School at Curro Protea Glen stands as a shining example of what’s possible when sport and education unite with purpose. The programme is not just shaping better players—it’s creating future leaders, one learner at a time.
