Why Are MaMkhize’s Vehicles Being Auctioned?
SARS took control of Royal AM Football Club after MaMkhize reportedly owed them at least R37 million. The club, which was formerly Bloemfontein Celtics before relocating to KwaZulu-Natal in 2021, was placed under administration to address these outstanding tax debts. As part of this process, SARS seized 13 luxury cars and a tour bus connected to MaMkhize. These assets are now set to be auctioned online through Bidders Choice.

The auction features 14 vehicles, including some rare and valuable models:
- 2022 Mercedes-Benz S680 Maybach Edition 100, one of only 100 worldwide, valued at about R5.6 million
- 2020 Bentley Continental GTC, worth around R4 million
- 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen ONYX Edition, valued over R2 million
- 2022 BMW i7 xDrive 60, a state-of-the-art electric sedan priced near R3 million
- 2018 Mercedes-Benz V-Class Maybach Bus and a 2014 Mercedes-Benz Marcopolo G7 tour bus, both still bearing Royal AM branding
- Additional luxury BMWs, Toyota Hilux bakkies, a Nissan NP300, and a Volkswagen Crafter
These vehicles showcase MaMkhize’s extravagant lifestyle and the club’s luxurious image.
How to Participate in the Auction
Buyers interested in the auction must register by paying a refundable deposit of R50,000. The vehicles will be available for viewing in Johannesburg and KwaZulu-Natal before the auction starts. The auction itself will run exclusively online from June 27 to July 2, 2025. This event offers collectors and enthusiasts a rare chance to own some of South Africa’s most luxurious vehicles.
Impact on MaMkhize and Royal AM Football Club
This auction marks a significant financial blow to MaMkhize and Royal AM. It follows a failed attempt to sell the club to an investment company and ongoing legal battles involving allegations of fraud, forgery, and bribery against MaMkhize. Selling these assets is part of SARS’s wider effort to recover unpaid taxes and stabilize the club’s finances.
A High-Profile Auction Amid Financial Challenges
MaMkhize’s luxury car auction highlights the complex mix of celebrity, sports, and financial responsibility in South Africa. The sale of these high-end vehicles and the Royal AM tour bus signals a new phase for the embattled businesswoman and her football club. For buyers, this auction presents a unique opportunity to acquire rare luxury cars once owned by one of the country’s most prominent figures.
