The Johannesburg, Midrand, Tembisa Taxi Association (JMTTA) has ushered in a new era of leadership. Following its successful elective conference and annual general meeting (AGM), held on April 23, 2025, at Emperors Palace in Kempton Park. The highly anticipated event brought together key stakeholders, members from 19 taxi associations, commuters, and special guests to celebrate progress, address ongoing challenges, and chart the course for the future of the taxi industry in Gauteng.

Outgoing deputy chairperson Mr. Sibeko officially opened the proceedings with a warm welcome address. This was met with enthusiastic applause from attendees. He secured 120 votes in a clear show of confidence from the membership. Mr. Nzaba and Mr. Thwala were also elected to serve as the new deputy chairpersons.
In his acceptance speech, Sibeko expressed deep gratitude for the support he received:
“I am humbled and honoured to be re-elected as the chairperson of JMTTA. I look forward to continuing our work with our members and ensuring the taxi industry remains safe and efficient.”
