The Limpopo Valley and Lowveld will bear the brunt, with the mercury expected to shoot past 40°C. Hot, dry air and a stubborn high-pressure system are driving the heat.
People are urged to stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activity during midday, and keep children and pets cool. Workers who spend time outside should wear hats, apply sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade. The combination of heat and low humidity could trigger dehydration and heatstroke within minutes.

Fire Danger Warnings For Northern Provinces
The heatwave brings another risk — fire. SAWS has issued fire danger warnings for North West, Limpopo, Gauteng, north-western Mpumalanga, and the eastern Free State.
Dry grass, gusty winds, and soaring temperatures make conditions ripe for runaway fires. Officials have asked residents not to light open flames or drop cigarette butts on the ground. Farmers should keep firefighting tools ready and ensure livestock have access to shade and water.

While the north bakes, the south is cooling down. SAWS predicts rain for the southern and central parts of the country, with an 80% chance along the south-eastern coast.
The Western and Eastern Cape will stay cloudy and cool, with scattered showers. KwaZulu-Natal can expect thundershowers in the south and warm, humid weather in the north.
