The Schauenburg Education Trust Bursary South Africa is an incredible opportunity for young South African students who are eager to pursue tertiary education in fields like Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Business Administration, and Business Management. With a focus on developing skilled professionals in sectors critical to South Africa’s future, the bursary provides essential financial support to students who show both academic merit and financial need.

About the Bursary Provider – Schauenburg Education Trust

Schauenburg (Pty) Ltd, widely recognized as Schauenburg Systems, is a company that specializes in manufacturing advanced equipment designed for mine safety. The company produces cutting-edge electronic products and turnkey communication solutions, playing a pivotal role in improving safety standards in mining operations. Schauenburg Systems is not only a leader in innovation but also committed to the socio-economic development of South Africa.

About the Schauenburg Education Trust Bursary Programme – Fields Covered

The Schauenburg Education Trust is inviting applications for its bursary programme for the 2026 academic year. The bursary aims to support students pursuing undergraduate studies in the following fields:

    1. Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering (BSc / BEng)
    2. Business Administration (BCom)
    3. Business Management (BCom)

The Schauenburg Education Trust has a clear focus on awarding bursaries for scarce skills qualifications. This helps ensure that the next generation of engineers, business administrators, and managers is equipped to meet South Africa’s growing demand for skilled professionals.

The selection process for the bursary takes into account two main criteria: merit and financial need. This means that students who have demonstrated academic excellence and have financial challenges will be given priority in the awarding process.

More About the Schauenburg Education Trust Bursary Programme – Expenses Covered, Obligations & Selection

The Schauenburg Education Trust bursary provides comprehensive financial support, which includes the following:

    • Registration Fees
    • Tuition Fees
    • Examination Fees
    • Allowance for Prescribed Textbooks
    • Allowance for Course Materials
    • Accommodation Allowance
    • Living Allowance

This holistic approach ensures that recipients of the bursary can focus on their studies without worrying about the financial burdens that often accompany tertiary education.

In return for this financial support, bursary recipients are required to participate in vacation work or job shadowing at Schauenburg Systems. This experience, which lasts for a minimum of three weeks during the mid-year university holidays, is designed to provide students with hands-on exposure to the industry and offer a practical understanding of their chosen fields.

The selection process for the bursary is rigorous. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an interview with the bursary trustees and administrators. Additionally, candidates will undergo psychometric testing to assess their suitability for the bursary. Successful candidates will be required to sign a written contract outlining the terms of the bursary.

Please note that if you do not hear back from the Schauenburg Education Trust within four weeks after the closing date, you can consider your application unsuccessful.
