    Accessing Study Materials on myUNISA

This guide will walk you through how to access your study materials on myUNISA step by step.

    What is myUNISA?

myUNISA is an online learning management system (LMS) designed for UNISA students to manage their coursework and academic progress. It provides a central platform where you can:

    • Access study material
    • Submit assignments
    • Interact with lecturers and fellow students
    • Participate in discussions
    • View your exam timetable and results

Step-by-Step Guide to Accessing Study Materials

    1. Log in to myUNISA

To access your study materials, follow these steps:

    • Go to https://my.unisa.ac.za
    • Click on “Login to myUNISA”
    • Enter your student number and myUNISA password
    • Click “Login”

If you are a first-time user, you need to activate your myUNISA account first by following the “Claim UNISA Login” process.

    2. Navigate to Your Modules

    Once logged in:

    • Click on the “myModules” tab on the top navigation bar.
    • You will see a list of your registered modules for the current semester.
    • Select the module you want to access by clicking on its name (e.g., ENG1501 or ECS1601).

    3. Access Study Materials

Each module page includes several tools and links. To find your study materials:

    • Look for the “Official Study Material” section on the left-hand side menu or dashboard.
    • You will find downloadable PDF files such as:
      • Tutorial Letter 101 (TL101): This includes your module overview, assessment plan, contact details, and textbook list.
      • Study Guide: A comprehensive guide to your coursework.
      • Additional Tutorial Letters: These are issued throughout the semester and may contain assignment feedback, updates, or exam preparation tips.

You can click to view the documents or right-click to download and save them for offline use.

    4. Check Additional Resources

Besides the official study material, modules may contain:

    • Prescribed Readings: Links to e-reserves or external websites.
    • Multimedia Content: Videos, podcasts, or PowerPoint slides.
    • Forums and Announcements: Important messages from lecturers about changes to the syllabus or assessment.

Be sure to regularly check the “Announcements” section for updates from your lecturers.

    Mobile Access

UNISA offers a myModules mobile-friendly site that allows you to access materials from your smartphone or tablet. You can also download the UNISA Moodle app, which provides easier navigation and access to learning content.

What If You Don’t See Your Materials?

If your study material is missing:

    • Confirm that you are registered for the module by checking your registration status on myUNISA.
    • Wait up to 24–48 hours after registration for your modules to appear.
    • If the issue persists, contact the UNISA Division for Student Administration or email your module lecturer using the contact information in Tutorial Letter 101.

    Tips for Managing Study Materials

    • Download and save all materials early in the semester to avoid access issues during load shedding or connectivity problems.
    • Use a cloud service like Google Drive or OneDrive to store and sync your files.
    • Print essential documents, such as assignment instructions or exam guidelines, if you prefer hard copies.

myUNISA is your academic lifeline as a UNISA student. Accessing your study materials promptly is key to staying on track in your coursework. Make it a habit to log in regularly, check for updates, and organize your study materials efficiently. With consistent use of the myUNISA portal, you can stay informed, prepared, and successful in your distance learning journey.

Remember, your study material is more than just reading—it’s your guide to understanding the course outcomes, assessment criteria, and exam preparation. Keep everything in one place, back it up regularly, and engage with the content actively. The more familiar you are with your study materials, the better your chances of excelling in your UNISA modules.
