Brand O&J, the division of the Chery Group encompassing OMODA and JAECOO, made its South African debut in 2023 with the launch of the OMODA C5. Since then, the lineup has steadily expanded to include the JAECOO J7 and, more recently, the OMODA C9. Local consumers have embraced these competitively priced premium SUVs, leading to impressive sales figures.

Looking ahead to 2025, both marques are preparing to broaden their offerings further. By entering new segments and incorporating plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and fully electric vehicles (EVs) alongside traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models, OMODA and JAECOO aim to meet the diverse needs of South African car buyers.

Hans Greyling, General Manager for OMODA & JAECOO South Africa, shared the vision:

“The upcoming OMODA and JAECOO additions in 2025 reflect our commitment to meeting the diverse needs of South African consumers. With the introduction of PHEV and EVs, alongside our traditional offerings, Brand O&J is expanding into new segments. There will be something for everyone—whether it’s electrified sustainability, luxury, or performance.”

    C9 PHEV: OMODA’s Electrification Milestone

Having introduced the C9 in October 2023, OMODA plans to expand the model’s lineup in 2025 with a plug-in hybrid version.
