    Key Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies

    The ideal candidate for the Supervisory Legal Practitioner role must possess a robust set of qualifications, skills, and competencies that include:

    • Educational Background: A Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree or Baccalaureus Procurationis (B Proc).
    • Professional Status: Must be an admitted Attorney in good standing.
    • Experience: A minimum of seven (7) years of post-admission legal experience, with a preference for individuals who have served as a Senior Legal Practitioner or in an equivalent capacity.
    • Quality Assurance: A demonstrated Legal Quality Assurance score of not less than 90%, evidencing a high standard of legal work.
    • Mentorship and Supervision: The ability to effectively mentor and supervise junior staff, including Candidate Attorneys and Legal Practitioners.
    • Legal Expertise: Exceptional legal representation and litigation skills, with a deep understanding of and commitment to human rights.
    • Professionalism: A strong commitment to professionalism and service excellence in all aspects of work.
    • Driver’s License: Possession of a valid code 08 driver’s license is compulsory for necessary travel.
    • Negotiation and Research: Strong negotiation skills complemented by robust research capabilities, enabling effective case preparation and advocacy.
    • Administrative Proficiency: Good administrative skills to manage legal documentation and office procedures efficiently.

    Role Responsibilities and Duties

    In this impactful role, the Supervisory Legal Practitioner will be entrusted with a variety of crucial tasks aimed at enhancing the quality of legal services and mentorship provided within the organization. Your key outputs will include:

    • Training, Supervision, and Guidance: Lead the development of Candidate Attorneys by offering comprehensive training, supervision, and guidance, ensuring their professional growth and readiness to handle legal cases effectively.
    • Legal Training Coordination: Spearhead the coordination of legal training sessions within the office, facilitating a continuous learning environment for all legal staff.
    • Mentoring and Coaching: Provide personalized mentoring and coaching to both Legal Practitioners and Candidate Attorneys, focusing on their individual development and improvement in legal practice.
    • Quality Assessment: Conduct daily assessments of the quality of files and work performed by Candidate Attorneys and Legal Practitioners, ensuring high standards are maintained in all legal documents and proceedings.
    • Support in Quality Assessments: Assist the Head of Office in conducting thorough quality assessments, contributing to the overall improvement of legal services provided by the office.
    • Case Flow Management: Monitor and manage the case flow of Legal Practitioners, Candidate Attorneys, and Judicare practitioners at court, ensuring efficient and effective legal representation.
    • Judicare Work Assessment: Evaluate the quality of Judicare work, ensuring that external practitioners maintain the organization’s standards of legal service.
    • Co-operation Partner Work Quality: Oversee and assess the quality of work performed by Co-operation Partners, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals and quality standards.
    • Legal Representation: Provide expert legal representation in civil matters, upholding the rights and interests of clients with professionalism and dedication.
    • Law Library Management: Ensure that the law library at the office is regularly updated and adequately stocked, supporting the legal team’s research and case preparation efforts.

    Compensation and Benefits
