The Sandton Convention Centre and associated locations will be at the height of activity for the next few days as the suburb of Sandton City readies itself to be an exceptional host to the BRICS Summit 2023 delegates from 22 to 24 August.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva and BRICS New Development Bank Chief Dilma Rousseff have arrived in the country and many other noteworthy statesmen like Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Nigerian Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima are said to be making their way. This is in addition to the Indian and Chinese heads of state. Road closures and other security measures have been undertaken to ensure the safety and comfort of some of the world’s most important leaders.

Sandton City has an impressive reputation. Known as the richest square mile in Africa, the area is the most important business and financial District in South Africa. Together with Nelson Mandela Square (formerly Sandton Square), Sandton City forms one of the largest retail complexes on the continent. It currently has a population of 222,415.
