The Sandton Convention Centre and associated locations will be at the height of activity for the next few days as the suburb of Sandton City readies itself to be an exceptional host to the BRICS Summit 2023 delegates from 22 to 24 August.

Brazilian President Lula da Silva and BRICS New Development Bank Chief Dilma Rousseff have arrived in the country and many other noteworthy statesmen like Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Nigerian Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima are said to be making their way. This is in addition to the Indian and Chinese heads of state. Road closures and other security measures have been undertaken to ensure the safety and comfort of some of the world’s most important leaders.

Sandton City has an impressive reputation. Known as the richest square mile in Africa, the area is the most important business and financial District in South Africa. Together with Nelson Mandela Square (formerly Sandton Square), Sandton City forms one of the largest retail complexes on the continent. It currently has a population of 222,415.

    Road Closures: BRICS Summit 2023.

It is no surprise then that it was chosen as the host of the BRICS Summit 2023.

Summit Attendees will Experience Sandton Hospitality

While conversations that can transform the continent and the world take place in and around the convention centre; hotels, restaurants, shops, and other hospitality stakeholders will be the immediate beneficiaries of the BRICS Summit 2023. Summit attendees and others will be experiencing a South African brand of travel services. Not only will the finest local chefs and entertainers be participating in the summit, but proudly South African cuisines and goods will be showcased throughout the district.

World-famous SA soprano Pretty Yende is expected to sing at the BRICS Summit 2023 gala dinner on Wednesday night (the 23rd) while award-winning chef Wandile Mabaso, of Bryanston’s Les Creatifs restaurant, will be overseeing the menu.

Homegrown entrepreneurs will be getting creative by offering unique cultural indulgences like boerewors platters, locally crafted beer, hot air balloon rides and luxury tours with an African view, and Mzansi-inspired gift packs.

Johannesburg will be the place to be during this BRICS Summit 2023.
