OuKlip Game Lodge is a privately owned eco-lodge in the 18 500ha Dinokeng Game Reserve, situated 50km north of Pretoria near the town of Hammanskraal. Accommodation consists of eight spacious and well-appointed self-catering safari “house tents”, each of which can accommodate up to eight guests.
The spotless canvas house tents are luxuriously furnished and have en-suite bathrooms as well as an open kitchen and a private boma area where you can sit by the fire at night and, when the skies are clear, gaze up at the incredible display of stars.
Rise early and set out on a self-drive safari through the reserve’s 70km self-drive route or book a 1.5-hour game drive with the lodge’s guide, who will be able to take you directly to all the best places to spot the Big Five. Other activities in the area that the lodge can help you book include microlight flights and hot-air balloon safaris (weather dependent).
Alternatively if you prefer to spend your stay relaxing by the pool then you’ll love the OuKlip pool, which looks out over a waterhole. Just sit back, relax and wait for the animals to come to you. It’s not unusual to see zebras, giraffes, kudus, warthogs, wildebeest and even elephants dropping by for a drink.
