Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve is situated in the Cradle of Humankind due North of Krugersdorp on the Kromdraai Road, the D540, 45 minutes from both Johannesburg Central & Pretoria. All internal Reserve roads are all well maintained dirt or unpaved roads and normally fit to host any vehicle on all the main roads.

Accommodation comprises of Stone Chalets or Wooden Log Cabins. The Chalets operates fully on gas & 12 volt lights and the Log Cabins boasts DSTV, Jacuzzi and a braai area on the deck. All accommodation are 4 sleeper units. The units are self catering and fully equipped.

Game Drives are provided for in a open Game Drive vehicles which can take 10 or 20 people, depending on the group size. Game drives depart at 09h00, 12h00 and 15h00 with an occasional 17h00 drive. The game drive take between 1.5 and 2 hours long – at a maximum.

Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve has wide variety of animals in our Wildlife Centre which are ambassadors of their species to the public, many of which either were rescued, rejected, hand-reared and/or are being rehabilitated.

The Reserve boasts a number of restaurants, each offering a different experience. The Boma Restaurant is situated at the Day Visitors area and offers an a-la-carte menu. The Thatch Café offers a range of family-friendly meals for diners on the deck overlooking the Cradle Bike Park. The Neck & Deck has an extensive menu including breakfast, light meals, mains and sundowners and features a cellar stocked with fine wines and champagnes. The Boma Restaurant, Thatch Café and Neck & Deck Restaurant are fully licenced. Please note that alcohol availability is subject to lockdown regulations.

The WonderCave is a pristine World Heritage Site in the midst of the Cradle of Humankind and boasts formations enough to take your breath away. The WonderCave has its own refreshments kiosk to be enjoyed with breathtaking views of the Cradle of Humankind.

The Reserve boasts more than 100 species of mammals, reptiles and birds. See four of the big five as well as African wild dogs, cheetah, tigers, zebras, roan antelope, sable antelope and many more.
