Opened in 2003, this Russian Orthodox church is the work of St Petersburg architect Yuri Kirs. A splendid example of the design of traditional Russian Orthodox churches, the building is topped by five golden domes. Designed to emulate those found on the Annunciation Cathedral in the Kremlin in Moscow, the domes are made of copper and painted with gold leaf.
Inside, the church is filled with candles and the walls lined with vividly coloured icons of Russian Orthodox saints. Visitors are requested to respect Orthodox practices when entering the church – men should remove any hats and women should wear one of the headscarves provided at the door.
